Students will gain a greater understanding as they discover the spontaneous formation of membranes with this hands-on 3-D kit! Explore the chemical structures of a phospholipid and then use that knowledge to construct a phospholipid monolayer. Features the amphipathic structure of phospholipids with their hydrophilic heads and hydrophobic tails. Additional components of the kit allow students to construct lipid bilayers and consider the role of transport proteins in moving ions and small molecules across membranes. Student and instructor guides available online. Kit intended for one group of four students.
