Maintain mealworms in containers with screens or ventilated covers at 25 to 30 ºC. Mealworms thrive on any type of grain-including bran meal, oat flakes, or corn meal. Provide moisture by adding slices of carrot, potato or apple.Mealworms (Tenebrio molitor) are clean, odorless and easy to maintain. They are ideal for classroom use and illustrating an insect life cycle with completely metamorphosis (egg, larva, pupa and adult). A continuous culture is also excellent as a food supplement for a variety of animals, such as fish, birds, amphibians and reptiles.
