With the Exploring the Compound Microscope Laboratory Kit for biology and life science, learn about the parts and important functionality of microscopes while exploring the microworld through slides prepared yourself.
It sure is a small world! Students learn about the parts and important functionality of microscopes while exploring the microworld through slides they prepare themselves. In this four-part activity, students perform a basic focusing procedure using prepared cork slides, create a wetmount slide using newsprint, estimate and compare crystal size using ruled microscope slides, and a slightly more challenging protozoa identification activity using depression slides. Your students will certainly remember the important microscope techniques after completing this exciting survey of microscope functionality. Worksheets, Teacher's Notes, and Extension Activities are provided.Enough materials provided for a class of 30 students working in pairs.
