Technical Note:
Prepare a 1% phloroglucinol HCl solution by mixing 1 g of phloroglucinol in 100 mL of water. Now add 100 mL of concentrated hydrochloric acid. Solution to test for pentose or galactose must be used in 5-7 days. Solution not stable beyond that period.
