Product Details

Your students will gain the necessary knowledge for exam day with this advanced inquiry lab. The lab covers Big Ideas 2 and 5 as students have a hands-on opportunity to explore metallic bonding, alloys and thermodynamic concepts. After completion of a homework set, six unknown metal samples are available for activity-station analysis by each student group. Students determine the identity of their metal by calorimetry and density measurements. A cooperative class activity allows for the entire class to discuss the results and agree upon a conclusion of each metals identity.

The activity includes enough reusable materials for 24 students working in pairs.
