Product Details

Discover what the weather’s really like, all around you! Students gain valuable knowledge about the science behind common weather events by performing a series of experiments in this activity stations laboratory kit. Five mini-lab activities are set up around the classroom, each designed to take about 10 minutes to complete. Student groups may rotate through the five stations in any order. Students study how tornadoes form, the Fujita and EF scales, relative humidity and dew point, and cloud and snow formation. Teacher Notes with sample data, comprehensive background information, and reproducible student handouts are included. Complete for 30 students working in groups of three.

Performance Expectations

MS-PS4-1: Use mathematical representations to describe a simple model for waves that includes how the amplitude of a wave is related to the energy in a wave.
MS-PS4-2: Develop and use a model to describe that waves are reflected, absorbed, or transmitted through various materials.
HS-PS4-1: Use mathematical representations to support a claim regarding relationships among the frequency, wavelength, and speed of waves traveling in various media.
