The Rover Kit provides a great hands-on robotics activity as students build an autonomous rover. Students learn important STEM concepts, including robotics, electronic circuits, computer programming and mechatronics. Kit includes micro and dual-motor controllers, 2 DC motors, 2 rubber wheels, ball caster, breadboard, switch, LED, 10- and 560-ohm resistors, 11 M/M test leads, 8 M/F test leads, micro USB cable, 3 clip leads, 2 battery holders, 4" and two 8" wire ties, Velcro® dots and 4 AA batteries. Enhance the experience with the WhiteBox Learning standards-based, cloud-based Rover STEM Software Application (available separately). This software lets students “connect the virtual to the physical” by engineering, programming, analyzing and simulating their designs virtually then building physical models to scale. Teams of 2–4 students are recommended. Most parts are reusable for future classes, and the Rover kit box can serve as chassis material. Foamboard (or kit box), heavy-duty scissors, wire cutter, wire striper (18 AWG), one-hole punch, straight-blade screwdriver, ruler, needle nose pliers and hot glue gun required but not included.
