The nuclear model of the atom was developed after many years of theories and experiments. Atoms were found to have a very small nucleus, made of protons and neutrons that is orbited at great distance by electrons.
First, your students will make their paper models of protons, neutrons, electrons and electron shells. They will then use their models to learn about the nuclear model of an atom. The model covers the features of subatomic particles, electron energy levels, atomic number, mass number, ions and isotopes.
The Model Making Kit includes enough materials for students to assemble up to 5 paper models working cooperatively. The comprehensive Teacher Resource Guide included provides illustrated readings, activities, key vocabulary and an assessment, along with teaching opportunities for students to Engage, Explore, Explain, Extend and Evaluate their understanding of the concepts presented.
