Product Details

Students learn how a telescope works. Students build two different types of simple telescopes—an astronomical and a terrestrial telescope—each with a magnification of 5X. They then experiment with the different telescope designs and determine how the lens combination in each telescope works to magnify an object’s image.

This kit includes materials to build one telescope that can be used to study both the astonomical and terrestrial telescope configurations.

Materials Included in Kit:

Lens, double concave, 38 mm
Lens, double convex, 38 mm
Lens, double convex, 50 mm
Paper ring, 1¾" i.d. x ⅛" w x ½" o.l., 2
Paper ring, 1⅜" i.d. x 1/16" w x ½" o.l., 4
Short tube, 1½" i.d. x  ⅛" w x 1⅛" o.l., 2
Telescope tube, 1¾" i.d. x ⅛" x 7½" o.l.
Telescope tube, 1¾" i.d. x ⅛" x 6½" o.l.
