Mercury Vapor, Indicator/Detector Card
If you are concerned about the presence of mercury
vapor, this is a great first step for peace of mind on
this issue. A 3" x 41⁄4" card has a piece of filter paper sandwiched in its center. The filter paper has been treated with palladium chloride, and its surface appears to be pink/tan in color. Upon exposure to mercury vapor, a color change occurs and the filter paper turns dark gray. The color change is sharp and distinguishable. You will want to hang this indicator/detector in your laboratory as an additional protection against mercury vapor. Sampling time is 10–14 days. This is not an instanta- neous read-out device. Simply watch for a color change, which alerts you to possible problems.
Peroxide Testing Strips
Peroxide Testing Strips
Dip and read for quick, accurate results! Used for semi-quantitative determinations, strips consist of a plastic section with attached sealed test paper. Dip test stick briefly into the test solution and compare results with the color scale located on the bottle. Test paper will turn blue in the presence of hydrogen peroxide. Test sticks can also be used for the determination of peracetic acid and other organic and inorganic hydroperoxides. Avoid exposing sticks to sunlight and moisture. Store unopened packs in a lab refrigerator and opened packs in a cool, dry area.
