Aspirators
Water Aspirators
A water aspirator is an inexpensive and dependable source of moderate vacuum in the laboratory. As the water rushes past a side arm aperture, a partial vacuum is formed. The lowest approximate pressure that can be achieved with this device is 10 mm of mercury or 10 torr.
When you are pricing aspirators remember some models that sell for less will not have a built-in check valve. Both of the models we sell do; thus eliminating the need for a trap. Water inlet diameter is 3⁄8" NPT.

SafeVac Vacuum Aspirator
The SafeVac Vacuum Aspirator system is used for
waste removal by aspiration. It is useful in the removal
of media from cell cultures, draws away the supernatants after centrifu- gation and removes wash solutions from immune assay well plates. The vacuum power can be set to 1 mL/s to 15 mL/s aspirating speeds. The unit is easy to assemble and has a sensor to prevent liquid overflow. Includes fully autoclavable tube, waste bottle (4 L), operation handle and tube connector.

Use a Water Aspirator
Attach a length of tubing (3⁄8" i.d.) to the water outlet of your aspirator and direct the tubing into the sink drain. Aspirators use enormous quantities of water so be sure your sink drain is free flowing before turning on the faucet. Without a length of tubing on the aspirator, a lot of splashing will occur.
