Spectrum Tube System
Safe and convenient design! Electrodes are internal to eliminate the risk of electric shock. System includes a power supply that accommodates one tube and a convenient storage unit that stores up to six additional tubes. Long-lasting spectrum tubes are safe and protected against accidental breakage by a hard polymer shell. All electrical parts are enclosed and a magnetic interlock system prevents an electric current unless the tube is properly inserted. Power supply can be raised to adjust the height of the light-emitting region. Base is 10" x 7"; power supply is 11" high; spectrum tubes are 6" x 11⁄2" with a light-emitting region of 2". Safest spectrum tube system available!
Flinn Emission Spectra Manual
By: Walter Rohr, Retired
Eastchester High School, Eastchester, NY
Look no further! The complete emission spectra manual for 15 common gas spectrum tubes is here. No more wondering what the line spectra should look like! Students will see a visual representation of the color peaks associated with gases such as argon, helium, hydrogen, mercury, and neon, as well as 10 others. Manual contains a detailed introduction on spectrum tubes, a chart for each tube containing all emission spectra lines with wavelength and intensity readings, and a graphical represen- tation of the lines. An excellent companion manual to any, or all, of our spectrum tubes. 2001, 18 pages, 81⁄2" x 11", soft cover.

Use Wood Splints for Flame Tests
Simply soak the wood splints overnight in solutions containing metallic cations (e.g., Ba2+, Ca2+, Cu2+, Li+, K+, Na+, Sr2+). Then hold one saturated wood splint in a flame and observe the vivid color. Repeat with splints from each of the solutions. Flinn has developed a student laboratory kit using this concept. For details, see the Flame Test Kit at flinnsci.com.

Sponges
Cellulose Sponges
Great for lab cleanup. Will float and resist effects of organic solvents, soap, etc. These sponges will be attacked by concentrated acids and alkalies. Can be sterilized by boiling.
