Thistle Tube, Glass
A useful piece of glassware for adding chemical solutions to a reac- tion vessel, such as those used in the generation of gases. Thistle tubes minimize the risk of a reaction occurring too quickly and bubbling over. When the stem of the tube is submerged, there is no risk of chemicals traveling back up to the top of the thistle tube due to pressure build-up. 300 x 40 x tube o.d. 6 mm.
Thistle Tube, Polyethylene
A safe, student-friendly, and economical method for delivering a solu- tion to your gas generator set-up. 250 x 35 x tube o.d. 6.5 mm.

Set Up a Thistle Tube Gas Generator
Thistle Tube
Gas Collecting Bottle
• Discard the first bottle of hydrogen gas collected since it will contain air which, in turn, contains oxygen. Hydrogen mixed with oxygen is an explosion hazard.
• Carbon dioxide gas can be generated using the same setup with marble chips and hydrochloric acid.
• Thistle tube must always be submerged below the liquid level.
