Eyewashes, continued
Eyewash, One-Step Activation
Eyewash easily mounts to faucet and still allows normal sink use. Simply push the pin to activate the eyewash—an eliminator valve keeps the eyewash constantly pressurized. Hands remain free to hold eyes open as eyes are rinsed simultaneously. Push the pin the other way to allow water to flow through the faucet. Eliminator valve also allows for the water temperature to be pre-set at the faucet and remain on to provide tempered water. Delivers over 0.4 gallons of water per minute. Includes two adapters. ANSI Z358.1–2009.
Eyewash, Economy Wall-Mount
Lower-priced stationary eyewash meets or exceeds applicable stan- dards. Durably constructed with stainless steel bowl and push paddle; chrome-plated brass valve, inlet pipe and outlets; and a one-piece cast aluminum base/mounting bracket. Dual outlets are fitted with flow- softening heads (aerators). Includes an emergency eyewash sign for quick recognition. Shipped completely assembled—ready to attach to your water supply using standard 1⁄2" pipe threads (NPT). Delivers 3 gallons of water per minute at the minimum rated water pressure of 30 pounds per square inch (psi). Eyewash provides compliance under ANSI Z358.1–2009 standards.
NOTE: Unlike more expensive eyewashes listed in this catalog, this unit is not self- regulating. It does not incorporate a flow regulator in its design. Attention should be given to the water supply feeding the proposed eyewash location. Incoming pressure should be between the minimum required pressure of 30 psi and the maximum recommended pres- sure of 100 psi. The pressure in your system may already be known or can be measured by maintenance personnel.
Eye/Face Wash, with Bowl and
Wall Mounting Bracket
The eye/face wash has two very large nozzles to irrigate and wash both sides of the face and both eyes. Pressing down on the yellow pushplate valve activates the flow of water, which will remain on until manually closed. Both hands thus remain free to hold eyelids open.
Ideal location to mount the eye/face wash is on the end of the teach- er’s demonstration table next to the sink. Installation is relatively easy and inexpensive since the location of the plumbing is so near.
Self-adjusting 8.0-gpm regulator assures a constant, even flow of water under varying school water pressures. Bowl and nozzles constructed of durable, high-visibility yellow ABS plastic. Valve is chrome-plated brass. Unit comes with a mounting bracket. Eyewash is ANSI Z358.1–2009, SEI certified.

Is Your Eyewash Effective?
The eyes are the most vulnerable portion of the body where labora- tory injury is involved. Eyes also represent the most important link between the individual and the outside world. Every effort should be made to protect the eyes. The first line of protection, of course, is chemical splash goggles.
If, however, a laboratory chemical is splashed into the eyes, the eyeballs and eyelids must be washed thoroughly and immediately. According to all experts, rinsing of the eyeballs and interiors of
the eyelids should continue for at least 20 minutes. This procedure should be carried out with a gentle but copious flow of water. The water should be of drinking quality. The eyewash should treat both eyes.
The eyewash must be located within 25 feet of any area where chemicals are used or stored.
Lastly, the victim’s hands must be free so the eyelids may be held open to allow water to reach the entire eye cavity.
