Frog Eggs, Live
A frog egg mass with approximately 100 viable eggs. Students will have the opportunity to witness the metamorphosis of developing frogs—always a fascinating and memorable experience. A state permit is required to ship to Utah. Not available for Alaska, Hawaii and Puerto Rico. Only available November–March.
★MAINTENANCE: Being successful in raising tadpoles is mostly dependent upon water quality. The key to success is clean water. Continually change one-half of the water in the aquarium at least once a week. (Use fresh aged water—never use distilled water or tap water.) Change the water more often if the water becomes cloudy and as the tadpoles get larger—at least one pint of water per tadpole. Aerate the water if possible. Do not feed tadpoles until mouth parts have developed—they have a built-in food source in the yolk sac. When they develop legs, they will need an object for crawling out of the water—floating logs, rock out-croppings, etc.
Goldfish
Goldfish are a classic staple. They are a vibrant deep orange to copper color. They make an ideal addition as they are very hardy and easy to maintain. Package of 12.
★MAINTENANCE: Goldfish thrive in water temperatures between 65 and 75° F. Goldfish should eat high-quality dry flake food. They also enjoy live food such as brine shrimp, but that should only be given on occasion. Feed fish only what they can eat in five minutes. Obesity is the most common cause of death in goldfish.
Fish, Tropical
A selection of popular and compatible freshwater tropical fish for aquaria. All are active, easy to care for, and do well in community tanks. When selecting fish, look for species which do well in overlapping ranges of temperature and pH.
During periods of severe cold weather, shipments of tropical fish may
be delayed. You will be notified and given a revised shipping date.
★MAINTENANCE: Basic water requirements and food preferences are listed below. Most will thrive on a good quality flake food. Supplement the diets algae eaters, blanch (briefly submerge in boiling water) pieces of dark, leafy green vegetables (spinach, greens, lettuce) and place them in the tank; anchoring them with small rocks or pieces of gravel.
