FlinnPREP™ Inquiry Labs for AP® Physics 1 combine the benefits of classroom, laboratory, and digital learning to save time, increase student engagement and comprehension, and lead to better exam scores. Running AP Physics labs can be a challenge--for both students and teachers. They take a lot of time and can sometimes be intimidating for students. More importantly, students often struggle to connect what they are learning in the experiments to the types of questions they might encounter on the AP exam.
Each Flinn Inquiry Lab meets the AP Physics 1 guidelines published by the College Board. Every experiment has been thoroughly tested, retested, and optimized to guarantee safety and success. Our labs always include real sample data—never made up! Science practices are applied to connect lab experiences to the real world. Our signature Guided-Inquiry Design and Procedure asks leading questions to help students identify the variables for designing effective laboratory experiments.
For each lab, students can watch, pause, rewind, and rewatch prelab concept, technique, and procedure videos as well as read through supporting material. Three of the labs even include simulations students can use to adjust independent variables to observe the impact on one or more dependent variables. Students work through the labs at home, so they arrive in lab confident and ready to tackle the science at hand. And if they get stuck on a tricky procedure or calculation during lab, they can watch again ... and again, on any digital device.
Each lab ends with a summary video that connects the experiment to the types of questions students might encounter on AP exam. Students can then practice on sample practice exam questions. Each question has its own reteach video students can watch if they get stuck.
The labs are designed to be adaptable to you and how you teach. You can choose to run experiments in multiple ways with access to digital procedures, downloadable pdfs that are inquiry-based, and downloadable pdfs that include a step-by-step procedure for each lab. A digital dashboard allows you to track student performance on assessment questions.
The cost-saving, comprehensive bundle includes all 16 Inquiry Lab for AP Physics 1—enough to fulfill the requirements for the entire AP Physics 1 curriculum. Each kit contains all the materials needed for 24 students.
Additional equipment is required and available separately. All materials are reusable.
