UV-Vis Spectrophotometer
Ultraviolet and visible spectroscopy with one instrument! Dramatically increase your spectroscopy lab capability with this versatile, affordable UVVis spectrophotometer. You can use is for all of your favorite visible spectroscopy labs as wells as for exploring the electronic properties of colorless substances that only absorb UV light. Identify and analyze organic compounds, proteins, and DNA—there are infinite opportuni ties. This instrument is essential for meeting AP Chemistry curriculum guidelines, which require students to understand different forms of spectroscopy. It’s also valuable for modern biotechnology applications such as the analysis of DNA and protein concentrations. Features an extended key panel for easy operation and convenient programming. Large LCD display is visible from any angle. Unit is userfriendly with an intuitive and taskdriven menu. Internal memory is capable of stor ing up to 200 test methods/standard curves. Includes two packages of 10mm square cuvettes—4 glass cuvettes for visible spectroscopy and 2 quartz cuvettes for UV wavelengths. 191⁄2" L x 143⁄4" W x 9" H.
• Wavelength range: 200–1000 nm

Spectroscopes and Accessories
Project Star Student Spectrometer
Heavyduty, yet compact version of the traditional spectrometer— an incredibly durable and accurate device! Identify elements (e.g., mercury, sodium, hydrogen, neon) in flame spectra, spectrum tubes, solar spectra, fluorescent lamps and even streetlights. Allows for view ing and measurement of spectral lines to an accuracy of ±1 nanometer. Comes complete with a 10page activity booklet.
See free video at flinnsci.com.
Spectroscope
This inexpensive, handheld, diffraction grating spectroscope will measure wavelengths of light from 400–700 nanometers (nm) with an accuracy of ±5 nm. Great for use with spectrum tubes or when doing flame tests. Students will better understand spectra after using this quantitative analysis spectroscope. Unit is housed in an unbreakable plastic case. Overall length: 20 cm; scale length: 37 mm. Instructions are included.

RSpec Explorer
Spectroscopy the whole class can see! The RSpec Explorer makes it possible for an entire class or lecture hall to see study light spectra and emission lines at the same time with a real example. You can even use the RSpec Explorer to challenge students to identify the gas in an “unknown” spectrum tube. Unit is very easy to use—simply position the spectrometer about a meter from the light source and connect it to a computer. The internal camera automatically focuses and adjusts to current light condi tions. Project the computer screen and voila, the entire class can see the colorful spectra! Includes software to display colorful spectra and gener ate intensity graphs. Seven instructional videos are also included to show you how to set up and get started. Specifications: Windows XP or later.
