Online Graduate Level Chemistry Courses

Illinois State University is pleased to offer a series of graduate level courses that will take your chemistry teaching to a higher level. In these courses, you will learn novel demonstrations, laboratory experiments, and teaching activities along with the fundamental concepts upon which these activities are based. You will also learn how to improve the activities you already know. Award-winning teachers will provide examples for how you can use these demonstrations to improve your delivery of important topics in chemistry – from the most basic to most complex. Furthermore, you will learn from the most recent research in chemical education and apply that knowledge to your teaching.

How are the courses structured?
These courses consist of a combination of assessments covering the Flinn videos and articles provided within the course. Discussions, peer review, and reflection papers are also an important part of Illinois State University's courses. Note that while there is not a designated time at which you MUST be logged in to the course, you still are responsible for completing assignments by their deadlines for each semester. These courses also count towards the Chemistry Education/Science Education requirements for the Master of Chemistry Education (MCE) and Master of Science in Chemistry Education (MSCE) degrees. Learn more about those graduate programs.
