Potassium Chlorate as an O2 Source: Molar volume is frequently measured by generating O2 using potassium chlorate and manganese dioxide. Molten KClO3 is a powerful oxidizer of organic materials like the rubber in the stoppers used in the generating apparatus. Explosions can and do result.
