Uncovered in 1799, the Rosetta stone was the crucial missing link that led to the breakthrough in the decoding of Egyptian hieroglyphics into a modern language. In this activity, students will follow the same techniques used by linguists to decipher Rosetta stones! Students will be given three types of Rosetta stones written in different “languages.” The task will be to use problem-solving skills to decipher each message. All materials are completely reusable.
