Safer Method for Inserting Glass Tubing into Rubber Stoppers
A safe and convenient way for inserting glass tubing and thermometers into
rubber stoppers is to insert a cork borer (AP8848), which just fits over the item to
be inserted into the rubber stopper. Thread the tubing or thermometer through
the cork borer, and then remove the cork borer.
To remove thermometers or tubing from rubber stoppers, just reverse the
process. Insert a cork borer into the rubber stopper around the tubing or thermometer,
pull out the tubing and remove the cork borer.

Lubricating the cork borer with a little silicone grease aids in the insertion and
leaves a little residue inside the rubber stopper that helps when you try to remove
the item at a later time.
