Measure Specific Gravity
Using a Hydrometer
1. The liquid and hydrometer should
be at room temperature and clean
prior to use.
2. Fill a tall cylinder about threefourths
full of the liquid to be
tested.
3. Slowly immerse the hydrometer
in the liquid to a point just below
where it naturally sinks.
4. Allow the liquid and hydrometer
to come to rest.
5. Take the reading at the liquid
surface level.
