Density Cube Set
Here’s a handy, low-cost set of 10 one-inch cubes
cut from modern materials. Use these precision
cubes to perform a variety of density experiments.
The set contains one cube each of aluminum, steel,
brass, copper, acrylic, nylon, poplar, oak, willow and
polyethylene.
Catalog No. Description Price/Each
AP6058 Density Cube Set $36.20
Metal Density Cube Set,
Economy Choice
Students measure the densities of the four
metal blocks and then determine their composition.
The four cubes in the set are aluminum,
steel, copper and brass. Instructions are
provided.
Catalog No. Description Price/Each
AP6489 Metal Density Cube Set, Economy Choice $25.95
Steel Sphere Density Set
Boggle your students’ minds with this fun density set!
Both spheres weigh the same, but have different volumes.
Which will sink? Which will float? Have fun discussing
density, mass and volume with this density set!
Catalog No. Description Price/Each
AP9910 Steel Sphere Density Set $30.85
Density Rod
Simple device with a multitude of demonstration possibilities. The rod
responds to changes in density of a liquid by sinking or rising in
the liquid. As the density of the liquid is changed, the rod moves
up or down accordingly. It sinks in warm water but floats in
cold water. A temperature gradient in a column of water
will find the rod held in suspension somewhere in
the middle. Put the rod in alcohol and it will sink.
Add different amounts of salt to water and the rod
will rise or sink as the density changes. Comes with
instructions and detailed explanation of density theory. 6.5 cm long, 1.9 cm diameter.
Catalog No. Description Price/Each
AP4632 Density Rod $15.80
Reverse Density Rod
The “normal” density rod (AP4632) sinks in warm
water and floats in cold water. The reverse density rod
works just the opposite! It will float in water 30–35 °C
and sink in cool water! Using both rods will enhance
your ability to make density meaningful to your
students. The reverse density rod will force students
to think about the concept of density in a very fundamental
way. This demonstration will also dramatically
call attention to the fact that the properties and
makeup of the rod as well as the properties of the liquid must always be considered.
Catalog No. Description Price/Each
AP6069 Reverse Density Rod $14.00
Overflow Can
The large sizes of our overflow cans make them especially useful for student experiments
with density cylinders and Archimedes’ Principle devices. The standard can
measures 7.5 cm in diameter, 12.5 cm high, with a capacity of 470 mL. The large
capacity can measures 10.5 cm in diameter, 12 cm high, with a capacity of 850 mL.
Catalog No. Description Price/Each
AP4627 Overflow Can $14.20
AP7222 Overflow Can Large Capacity 13.90
Catch Bucket
Seamless aluminum catch bucket to accompany our overflow
cans. Overall dimensions are 7.5 cm in diameter, 7.0 cm
high, with a capacity of 270 mL.
Catalog No. Description Price/Each
AP4626 Catch Bucket $10.70
Specific Gravity Bottles See page 122.
Specific Gravity Block Set
Precision-machined metal blocks with removable
heavy-duty hook on one face. Ideal for measurement
and density exercises. Each block measures 3.1 cm on
a side. Set of four includes one block each of aluminum,
brass, steel and copper. Also available individually.
Catalog No. Description Price/Each
AP5714 Specific Gravity Block Set, Set of 4 $43.85

AP5733 Steel Block 8.83
AP7863 Copper Block 16.85
Specific Gravity Metal
Specimen Set
Four different metal cylinders for use in measurement
and density experiments. Their small size (5 cm long
x 1.3 cm diameter) makes them perfect for use in a
graduated cylinder. Includes copper, brass, aluminum
and steel.

Galileo Thermometer
Each bulb in the thermometer is partially filled with
a different colored fluid and a metal tag beneath it
with a printed Fahrenheit temperature. The bulbs are
in continual motion up and down the column as the
temperature changes. The current actual temperature
is indicated by the lowest floating sphere in the upper
part of the cylinder. Two sizes are available.
