Boyle’s Law Apparatus
By: The Flinn Staff
This easy-to-use apparatus is made of a 10-mL
calibrated plastic syringe, a piston supporting a metal hanger and a pinch clamp.
Students produce a graph showing the relationship between pressure and volume
by varying the mass on the metal hanger and recording the change in volume.
Includes detailed Teacher Notes, background information and two reproducible
student handouts.
Catalog No. Description Price/Each
AP9223 Boyle’s Law Apparatus $18.50
Absolute Zero Device
Unique device shows the relationship of pressure
to temperature of a gas, allowing students
to determine the value of absolute zero. The bulb is immersed in hot water, cold water
and a dry ice acetone mixture. Temperatures and pressure readings are recorded.
Pressure versus temperature readings, when plotted, provide a value of absolute
zero. Bulb diameter 100 mm. A thermometer (thermocouple) with a –100 to 100 °C
range is required and available separately.

Historical Inventions
Laboratory Kits
By: The Flinn Staff
The new Flinn Scientific Historical Inventions Laboratory Kits are a great way to integrate
science and history. Students will learn of groundbreaking ideas and interesting historical
periods while re-creating the scientific inventions that were shared by the great minds of those
times. From Greek philosophers to the Industrial Revolution, students will earn an appreciation
for the collaborative scientific work that leads to technological advance and just maybe be
inspired to become inventors themselves!
