Thermoelectric Generator
Demonstrator
Place each aluminum leg into a plastic cup with water. If
the water temperature is the same, nothing happens. But,
what happens if the water is hot on one side and cold on the
other? The fan starts to spin! If you connect the apparatus
to a battery or DC power source, the effect is reversed—one
cup of water is heated, while the other is cooled. Amazingly
simple demonstration to learn about relatively complex
thermoelectric concepts such as the Seeback effect, Peltier effect, and Thomson
effect. 2" L x 11/2" W x 9" H.

Build a Solar Cell—
Student Laboratory Kit
By: The Flinn Staff
The energy crisis is real!
Update your curriculum
today and bring the latest
technological developments
in solar energy research
i n to your c lassroom.
Dye-sensitized solar cells
(DSCs) mimic the process
that occurs in photosynthesis to harvest sunlight and convert it to electricity.
Students build a DSC and learn about the principles behind its operation. Light striking
the dye surface is absorbed and promotes an electron to a photoexcited state.
Electrons migrate through the titanium oxide film and travel through the external
circuit to the cathode. The result—electricity from light!
Complete with enough materials to make four solar cells. A multimeter may be used
to measure the voltage of the solar cell and is available separately. Includes Flinn
Exclusive STEM Integration Guide.

Renewable Energy Set
Explore wind, solar, and water energy—all in one
convenient set! Three interchangeable power units
can be mounted to a sturdy plastic base. One converts
sunlight to energy, while the other two use wind and
water to create energy. Four different monitors can
also be connected to the base. These monitors make
a sound, flash a light, turn gears or measure voltage
so students can observe and measure the energy
produced. High-impact plastic base is 7" x 10" with a maximum height of 20", monitors
are 3" in diameter and kit includes 20 feet of clear plastic tubing for the water module.
Also includes a packet with suggested activities and instructions.

AP7819 Renewable Energy Set $236.00
H-Racer Fuel Cell Car
Transparent design allows students
to see the inner mechanics of the car.
Kit includes a refueling station that
produces hydrogen and oxygen from
water, using electricity produced by
a solar panel (included) or 2 AA batteries (sold separately). Once the car is fueled up,
take the H-Racer out for a spin, controlling direction with a remote control! Each kit
includes all parts necessary for easy assembly of the H-Racer, as well as hydrogen
refueling station, remote control, fuel cell, connector cables, solar panel, and detailed
user manual. Comes with 140 page Renewable Energy Science Education manual.

AP7329 H-Racer Fuel Cell Car $166.00
AP1423 Batteries, AA, 1.5 V, Alkaline 2.40
Ethanol Fuel Cell Science Kit
This science kit shows the workings of a direct ethanol
fuel cell and the principles behind the conversion of ethanol
into electrical energy through oxidization. Create an
ethanol/water mix and then transfer the solution into the
fuel cell where it will be converted into electrical energy
to power a mini turbine. Kit features pH paper to show the
change of property of the consumed ethanol fuel and an
experimental CD guide. Contents include a fuel cell module, fuel solution container,
fuel tank with lid, fan module, fan blade, silicon tubes, wires, clamp and syringes.
Catalog No. Description Price/Each
AP8189 Ethanol Fuel Cell Science Kit $176.00
Fuel Cell Car
Over thirty hands-on experiments help
students explore solar cell and fuel cell
technology. Topics in chemistry, physics
and engineering are studied as students
learn about the electrolysis of water,
how solar cells and fuel cells operate,
mechanical work and energy conservation,
power, efficiency, mathematics,
and electric circuits. In the end, students will design a car of the future—an efficient,
environmentally friendly, solar-fuel cell hybrid.
Catalog No. Description Price/Each
AP7317 Fuel Cell Car $117.00
Eco-Battery Vehicles
Students learn about electrochemistry
and battery technology
by building any of the 22 possible
models that run off of a metal-air
electrochemical cell. Models include
an all-terrain vehicle, windmill, helicopter,
propeller plane, dredger and
many more! Safe and ideal way to
demonstrate battery technology as it only uses magnesium plates, salt water, and
oxygen in the air to generate electricity. Includes 91 pieces, instructions for 22
models, and a 64-page manual.
Catalog No. Description Price/Each
AP7841 Eco-Battery Vehicles $75.65
Mini Solar Panels
Design your own solar energy experiments!
Durable, mini solar panels are
encapsulated in a plastic case that
will stand up to repeated student
use. Connect to various devices with
6" lead wires. Each panel is 33/4" L
x 21/2" W.
