Slime for Everyone!
Student Laboratory Kit
By: The Flinn Staff
With this economical kit, you’ll have enough materials for every student in your class
to make a batch of slime. Instruction sheet provides background information, easyto
follow procedure and observation/analysis activities. Kit contains polyvinyl alcohol
solution, sodium borate solution, plastic cups and wood sticks!
Full-size kits complete for 30 students. Small-size kits complete for 10 students.
Refill kits contain materials only. Food coloring is optional and available separately.

Structures and Properties
of Polymers—Activity-
Stations Kit
By: The Flinn Staff
Simply set up the four mini-lab activities around the classroom, and allow students
to rotate through the stations in any order. Each activity takes about ten minutes to
complete. The polymers and their properties are:
• Sodium Alginate—A Natural Polymer
• Molding Glue—An Amorphous Polymer
• Polystyrene and Polyethylene—Birefringence and Polarized Light
• PTFE Tape—The Long and Short of It
Complete for 24 students working in groups of three.

AP7172 Structure and Properties of Polymers—Activity-Stations Kit $57.85
Small-Scale Synthesis
of Polymers—Activity-
Stations Kit
By: The Flinn Staff
Three independent “mini-lab” activities are included. Each activity takes about 10–15
minutes to complete, and students may rotate through the activity stations in any
order. Students will synthesize three common polymers—nylon, polyurethane and
polyester—and compare and contrast the methods of preparing them and their
properties. All procedures have been microscaled and simplified to make them suitable
for the high school laboratory.
Complete for 27 students working in groups of three. Perform this experiment in a
fume hood or well-ventilated lab.

Golf Ball Design—
Chemistry of Sports
Student Laboratory Kit
By: The Flinn Staff
The relationship between science and sports is undeniable. Tennis racquets and
bicycles are made lighter and stronger by nanotechnology; footballs are inflated
to the appropriate pressure (we hope) in accordance with the ideal and simple gas
laws; sports drinks are carefully made and studied using analytical chemistry to
improve athletic performance; and breathable, comfortable apparel is designed by
applying the principles of materials chemistry. In this lab, students design the best
inner core of a golf ball possible by varying the composition of a reaction mixture to
take advantage of the principles of polymer chemistry.
Complete for 24 students working in pairs.
